SUMMARY:
DESCRIPTION:We are truly delighted to host : \n \, \, . \nWe love to describe Sergio through the words of a dear friend and colleague\, with whom he shared a studio in Brooklyn for years\, and who : \nHere’s what she writes:\nThis is Sergio: surprising\, unconventional\, funny\, affectionate\, generous\, and fascinated by small and irregular things. […] Each book stands on its own\, but the characters inhabit a similar universe. His illustrations are instantly recognizable for their candy-colored plateaus and hills\, whitish cliffs\, floating pink clouds\, stick-like trees\, and faceted stones; for the unearthly plants; and for the perfectly tiled geometric floors in empty rooms. \nBianca and the Butterfly is published by Harper Collins \nIn Italy\, Sergio Ruzzier’s books are published by Topipittori and La grande illusion \n

SUMMARY:IL MALE CHE NON C'È con Giulia Caminito
DESCRIPTION:with Iuri Moscardi and Clara Ramazzotti \nOnce again\, Giulia Caminito chooses the path of the novel to tell her own story and that of her generation\, one that has not endured wars or material deprivation but has instead inherited the loneliness of the Internet and precariousness. Her essential writing in this book opens up to a surprising dreamlike atmosphere\, making hypochondria a memorable protagonist—the seductive and mocking Catastrofe—and setting the scene in the urban jungle where all our most painful experiences unfold. The Illness That Isn’t is a book about the power of imagination and childhood\, a novel of a descent into hell and the climb back toward the bright origin that we can all\, if we wish\, return to\, just as the pigeons know how to do. \nEVENTO IN ITALIANO

SUMMARY:MARINA CATUCCI: MANIFESTO AMERICANO
DESCRIPTION:Il socialismo e le nuove forme di lotta politica negli Stati Uniti\nin conversation with\nFEDERICO LEONI and LUCIANO TIRINNANZI\n“In my work as a correspondent from the U.S.\, what I do is try to “explain America to Italy\,” that is\, to observe and attempt to understand what is\, on the surface\, one of the most recognizable places in the world\, because it has been represented in hundreds of films\, heard in thousands of songs\, and “worn” every time we buy a pair of blue jeans or a baseball cap. It enters our lives every time we eat a hamburger or buy Coca-Cola at the supermarket. We think we know everything about the U.S.\, and each of us has a very clear idea of what they are\, or what we can expect from Americans. More often than not\, that’s not the case. Since I’ve been living here\, one thing has become increasingly clear to me: that socialism\, for Americans\, is primarily a new idea\, increasingly less tainted by the brand of infamy.” \nMARINA CATUCCI Correspondent from the United States for Il Manifesto\, documentarist\, she collaborates with various Italian radio and television stations. Elettorale Americana is the podcast she curates on U.S. politics\, released every Friday. \nFEDERICO LEONI U.S. Correspondent Sky Tg24 He has been covering the U.S. presidential elections since 2008. Il suo ultimo libro America contro. Gli Stati Uniti e la crisi della democrazia (2024) \nLUCIANO TIRINNANZI Professional journalist\, he has been writing for the weekly Panorama for many years and was the editor-in-chief of the geopolitical magazines LookOut News and Babilon Magazine. Author of numerous essays\, he is the director of the publishing house Paesi Edizioni.

SUMMARY:PAOLO PECERE: Il senso della natura. Sette sentieri per la Terra
DESCRIPTION:in conversation with MICHELE COMETA\nLooking into the eyes of an orangutan\, an octopus\, a whale shark. Setting out to understand a desert\, a forest\, or a mountain range while crossing the traditions of human thought. Moving from New York to the Galápagos\, from Iceland to Borneo\, from Rwanda to Tibet\, to immerse oneself in our home\, the planet we must steward. \nA planet whose future must be written: in recent years\, the destructive impact of human civilization on nature has been recognized\, made evident by climate catastrophes\, extinctions of entire animal species\, desertification\, and the disappearance of landscapes. Yet\, this awareness has not brought about any real change in our ways of living\, in the solutions adopted by industrial societies to avoid catastrophe. At the same time\, we are witnessing the spread of a passionate love and deep nostalgia for the untamed nature\, a refuge from the deafening dissonance of the world. It is undoubtedly a genuine sentiment\, but completely inadequate to protect the Earth. \nFrom this paradoxical split\, aware that scientific truth alone does not seem enough to shake us\, begins the journey of Paolo Pecere. \nPAOLO PECERE is a historian of philosophy and a writer of fiction and literary non-fiction.\nHe is associate professor at the University of Roma Tre.\nHis last scholarly book is Soul\, Mind and Brain from Descartes to Cognitive Science (Springer 2020).\nHis first novel La vita lontana was published in 2018 and he is the author of Risorgere (2019) and Il dio che danza (2021). \nMICHELE COMETA is Professor of Comparative Literature and Visual Culture at the University of Palermo. His research focuses on German cultural history and aesthetics (especially in the age of Goethe)\, literary theory\, and visual culture. At the Italian Academy he will work on the challenge that paleolithic “arts” and the old and new theories on the origin of human symbolic behaviour issue to contemporary visual culture.
